Blackjack finds tough luck at Knoxville, set to return May 9
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (May 4, 2026) - “Blackjack” Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing did their best to beat the best Saturday night at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, but in the end, it was a busted hand, forced to surrender early due to a hiccup on the cushion.
Brown, the driver of his own Casey’s, FVP, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Wilkerson Crane Rental, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Mountain Dew, Ditzfeld Transfer, Ditzfeld Container Service, No. 21 sprint car, was on a roll before the aforementioned incident, powering on to a third-quick qualifying effort before finishing second in his respective heat.
The Grain Valley, Missouri, ace via Higginsville went on to start fifth in the A, and after a great battle to keep himself in top-five contention, it was the cushion that bit him; he was scored 22nd.
“We took our notes from the Outlaws weekend with the intent to be even better this week and we were able to do that. Near the top of the board in hot laps, third quick in qualifying, had a strong car in the heat and ran second…things were in motion,” Brown stated. “We didn’t feel the best in the world in the A, but we were maintaining. Just as things were starting to really get good, I ended up getting into the turn one cushion and got above it. I tried to stay in the throttle to get back out of it, but I put myself in more trouble and tripped over the right front. Definitely not what I was hoping to do by any means of the imagination. It was 100% driver error. It was unfortunate, but sometimes you’re going to have that when you’re pushing the issue.
“The plan is to get things fixed up and get back to Knoxville this week.”
ON DECK:
Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing will continue their 2026 campaign with a return visit to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, May 9.
